Anticorruption IQC Technical Assistance
ARD is building on emerging experience with anticorruption to place at USAID’s disposal a powerful array of analytic approaches and programmatic experience well suited to respond to the needs of operating units around the world. The programmatic responses that ARD’s consortium can provide include technical assistance to public institutions and civil society, and cross-sectoral and multidisciplinary approaches to program design and implementation.
- Assisting USAID to promote democracy and integrity in public institutions includes the collaborative design of reforms aimed at limiting opportunities for corruption, increasing transparency, improving oversight, establishing effective sanctions, and realigning official incentives to public ends.
- Technical assistance to promote public demand for good governance includes strengthening civil society organizations, advocacy, monitoring, and investigative journalism.
ARD' Integrated Three-Pronged Approach
ARD employs an integrated three-pronged approach for delivering effective, successful anticorruption services. We have learned that for an anticorruption program to be successful, it must combine elements of behavior modification, organizational change and institutional reform. By integrating these approaches together, we are able to balance the analytical demands of policy design with operational requirements of program implementation.
In recent years, development programming has shifted away from narrowly focused interventions—stovepipes—to solutions that involve actors across sectors to address problems holistically.
